$11M in Community Policing Grants Available

Community policing grants are used to advance the practice of community policing practices by local law enforcement agencies that are national in scope. The grants fund training and technical assistance, as well as the development of:

• Innovative community policing strategies
• Applied research
• Guidebooks
• Best practices

Up to $11 million is available through the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) 2017 Community Policing Development (CPD) program. Applications are due June 23, 2017.

Community policing grants are available for projects related to the following topic areas:

• Cooperative partnerships with federal law enforcement to combat illegal immigration
• Field-initiated law enforcement (microgrants)
• Officer safety and wellness resources
• Enhancing officer safety through increased respect for law enforcement
• Critical response technical assistance
• Online training development
• Preparing for active shooter situations (PASS Program)
