FEMA's High Hazard Potential Dam grants provide assistance to non-federal dams in danger of failing and threatening human life and water infrastructure.
As part of the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act of 2016, a new grant was added to FEMA’s National Dam Safety Program. The Rehabilitation of High Hazard Potential Damsgrants provides technical, planning, design and construction assistance for high-hazard dams that have the potential to and could result in the loss of human life in the event of failure or misoperation.
For FY 2019, FEMA was appropriated $10 million for the High Hazard Potential Dams grants, and is now accepting applications.
