California’s After School Education and Safety Grants

California elementary and middle schools that partner with local community resources on literacy, academic enrichment and safe, constructive alternatives can apply for state funding annually.

There is a maximum of $122,850 for California elementary schools and $163,800 for middle schools in 2019 through California’s After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program. ASES, the result of the 2002 voter-approved initiative, funds programs that partnerships between schools and local community resources for

Academic enrichment
Safe, constructive alternatives for students in kindergarten through ninth grade

Funding is designed to maintain existing before and after school program funding and provide eligibility to schools that submit quality applications both new and existing grantees who wish to increase funding.

Local educational agencies and nonprofit organizations may apply, but the local educational or public agency must act as the fiscal agent.

Applications are due January 22, 2019.
