UNION COUNTY, N.J. — The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in New Jersey is offering a grant opportunity to support community gardens and farms.
The funding aims to promote environmental stewardship and sustainable agriculture in urban and underserved communities through conservation education and resource support.
Eligible projects may include demonstrations and educational opportunities focused on conservation practices, as well as efforts to engage historically underserved growers and communities in NRCS programs.
Additionally, established USDA People’s Gardens can seek support for initiatives such as climate-smart conservation practices, stormwater runoff and erosion control, and habitat establishment and management.
The grant program offers funding ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 per project.
A wide range of entities are eligible to apply, including city, county, and state governments; Native American tribal governments and organizations; nonprofits; educational institutions; public housing authorities; and special district governments.
The application deadline is June 6 .
